Abstract:
The purposes of this study was to examine the level of organizational commitment among government officials working for Bangsue District Office, Bangkok and to compare their level of organizational commitment as classified by personal factors, including gender, age, educational level, work length, work position, and marital status. The data were collected from 142 government officials who completed a questionnaire. The statistical tests used to analyze the collected data included frequency, means, standard deviation, comparison of means, t-test, and One-way ANOVA. To test the differences between pairs, LSD was operated. The results of this study revealed that there were no statistically significant correlations between the subjects organizational commitment and their gender, age, educational level, and work position. Also, a statistically significant correlation was found between the subjects organizational commitment and their marital status at a significant level of 0.05. It was shown that there was a high correlation between organizational atmosphere and the subjects organizational commitment. When considering each aspect of commitment, the ones in relation to willingness and organizational loyalty were rated with the equal means scores, followed by the aspect of unity. In addition, a high and positive correlation was found between the subjects type of work, working condition, and organizational commitment. Finally, there was no statistically significant correlation between the subjects organizational commitment and the amount of fringe benefits offered to them
