Abstract: Transport network analysis is important to traffic and transportation planing. Planners often use various ltinds of computer programs to help in the analysis due to the complexity and the plenty of data being used in the forecast. However, present programs have a restriction in data presentation, which make checking of input data and forecasting results difficult. Therefore, this thesis offers a guideline for using Geographic Information System (GIs) program for network analysis problem.The study took up by selecting programs of network analysis and GIs according to criteria established in this study. Then, the selected programs were brought to study their competence and restriction, especially the part concerning network analysis problem through a prepared case study. After that, we designed a guideline for the integration of the two types of program. We also developed the supporting programs to make the integration easier. Finally, the guideline and the supporting programs were tested through the real case study in order to show the advantages of the integration of the two types of programs. The selected prcgrains of network analysis are TRANPLAN and TRIPS, and GIs is ARCVIEW. When these programs were studied, the result showed that the two types of programs can work together very well by modificationof their data formats. With guidelines and supporting program developed in this study, the integration of the two types of programs became very fast and convenient. In addition, the integration yields more effective presentation of input and forecasting results than using network analysis program alone.
