A Study in the Behaviours of Anchored Cement Colunln in Soft Bangkok Clay

Abstract:
A study of the behaviours in full scale anchored cement column load test is described in the thesis. Ten sample of cement column, 60 centimeter in diameter, varied length 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 14 ineters are installed by jet grouting method and all anchors are buried through the whole length in soft clay. The distal part of steel rod, buried in the anchor, reinforced like the head of arrow to increase bearing capacity at distal part. Nine anchors are installed, electrical strain gauge, in different levels to measure the displacement of anchor. The test, were carried out in step loading. Each load increment is maintained for 60 minutes, during which the displacements of head anchor and steel rod are measured before the next step loading. Field test result show that, eight anchors, in the length more than 4 meters, was failure in the steellanchor interface. The anchor length 2 ineters was failure in the anchorlsoil interface and has a cone shape in proximal part. The results of load transfer show that bond resistance was low value. The anchor carrying capacity is depended on the distal part and increase as acting load. For each load steps in all test show that creep displacement was occurred. The evaluate of failure load show that the critical creep load is controlling the failure load of anchor. In case of the failure occurred in steel/anchor interface, the Habib 's method is more appropriate than Littejohn 's method. However, shear strength, the continuous of anchor cement column, method of installation of steel rod and quality controlled during construction is influenced in the behavioirrs of anchor capacity.
