Abstract:
This thesis studied electrical and thermal energy conservation in iron wire rod and galvanized factory. The results showed that an average electrical power, electrical energy consumption and daily load factor were 566 kW, 13,344 kwh and 61.89% respectively. The maximum electrical power demand was about 988 kW in partial-peakand 840 kW in on-peak period. The results of thermal energy analysis of 6 kinds of furnace according to the first and second law of thermodynamics and specific energy consumption index were as followed : 57.42%, 3.50% and 0.093 MJkg for Bonderite furnace,57.73'0,8.45% and 0.168 MJkg for Dryer oven , 24.33%, 14.24% and 3.87 MJkg for Air-patent furnace , 30.08%, 13.95% and 1.85 MJkg forAnnealed furnace ,45.38%, 15.02 % and 0.617 MJkg for Lead furnace and Galvanized furnace required 34.2 1 %, 13.64 % and 1.1 1MJkgrespectively.The electrical energy saving could be achieved by improving working period of shift load. Transformer No.1 could be considered as 2 cases, first case could save TOD and TOU rate for 37,092 and 11,846 bahdmonth and the second case could save 42,273 and 38,820 bahdmonth.The transformer No. 1,2 saved 74,188 and 26,475 bahtlmonth. Thetransformer No.3 saved 22,612 and 69,832 bahtlmonth respectively. The lighting system would be saved by changing lamp to save 92,857 bahdyear, with simple payback period of 1.97 year and the return profit was 82.39 %. The removed primary voltage of transformerNo.3 could save 9,940 bahdyear. The improvement of power factor in transformer to the optimum value resulted from computer calculating program. Transformer No.1 when adjusted to 0.93, could save 22,270 bahttyear with payback period of 1.90 year and the return profitwas 52.58%. Adjusting power factor of transformer No.2 to 0.90 could save 20,707 baht/year with payback period of 2.20 year and the return profit was 45%. The adjusting power factor to 0.94 of transformer No.3 could save 10,789 bahttyear with payback period of2.57 year and the return profit was 39.07 %.Thermal energy conservation of furnace could be achieved by reducing excess air which could save 12.41 % of fuel used and it saves 62,187 baht/year for he1 cost. It can save 26.27 % of fuel or 327,688 bahttyear for Air-patent and Galvanized furnace. The usingof waste heat recovery for preheat air and fuel could save 149,117 baht/year. The bath cover at furnace could save 26,832 bahttyear. About 50% reductionof leak area in Dryer oven could save 7,602 bahttyear. The thermal insulation in Bonderite furnace and Airpatentfurnace could save 202,502 bahttyear and 86,705 bahttyear respectively. For other 4 kinds of furnace, this method could save 86,705 bahtlyear on average. The payback period was 0.53 year and the return profit was 144 %.
