Abstract:
This research aims at modeling a construction of subbase of Asphaltic concrete road , by studyingthe actual duration and construction procedure. Discrete event simulation method was used tomodel this construction by arranging level of importance of activity and allocating resources. Um-Cyclone was selected as a simulation tool. The simulated result was then compared with the actualfield result.It was found that the simulated model closely reflected the actual construction. The model providedsimulation output consisted of resources and effectiveness of the construction model. The resultsobtained from the simulation were analyzed to determine the most efficient resource level usingsensivity analysis of the queue. It was found that the construction output was increased if additionalbackhoes and compactors were added to reduce the line in the queues. Moreover, the unit cost ofeach subbase section was also decreased by adding more resources.
