The needs for parent participation in the Administration of Child Development Center under Local Government Organizations, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province
Abstract:
The objectives of this research were to 1) study the need for parent participation in the administration of child development centers under local government organizations 2) compare the need for parent participation in the administration of child development centers under local government organizations, classified by the educational level and income of the parents. The population used in this study was 9,747 parents. The sample consisted of 384 parents and was done using the Taro Yamane formula and stratified random sampling. The tool used to collect the data was a questionnaire with a reliability of .88. The statistics used for data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test.The research results showed that:1.The need for parent participation in the administration of child development centers under local government organizations in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, as a whole, was moderate. Co-benefit had the highest average value, followed by co-decisions. Co-assessment had the lowest average.2.The comparison of the need for parent participation in the administration of child development centers under local government organizations, classified by the educational level and income of the parents, revealed that:The need for parent participation, using educational level, was, overall, significantly different at the .05 level. The need for involvement of parents who graduated with diplomas was higher than for parents who finished with higher secondary certificates. When considering each aspect individually, co-decisions, co-operation and co- evaluations were significantly different at the .05 level. The needs for parent participation by different income was, overall, not different. When considering each aspect individually, it was found that co-decisions was significantly different at the .05 level. The need for involvement of parents with an income of 10,000 baht or more was higher than the need of the parents with an income of less than 10,000 baht.
