Abstract:
An experimental unit of batch-type solar ethanol distiller is constructed and tested. The unit consists of a set of heat solar collectors, a 50-liter reboiler, a distillation column and a water-cooled condenser. The area of the solar collector can be stepped up every 1.8 m2 while the number of trays in 20 cm. high distillation column can be adjusted. The yield and the concentration of the distilled ethanol have have been found at different values of the charged volume, the concentration of the initial mixture, the collector area and the number of the distilled column. The mathematical model of each component is also developed and the system simulation has been carried out. It could be found that the simulated outputs expressed a reasonable agreement with the experimental results within 14% accuracy
