Abstract:
This research aimed at studying student life at Khon Kaen University covering sixz areas namely, daily life, culture and traditions, social, economic, educational and political and factors having impacts upon Khon Kaen student life. Results of the study indicated that student daily life was mainly spent within the campus and fooling around in Khon Kaen city, as well as touring in the Northeast. As for cultural and traditional student life, most activities organized were relative to freshmen and student social life. Most students had intimate relationships among peers more than others. As for student economic life, most students spent money on food and necessities. As for student educational life, upperclassmen played a major role in advising underclassmen regarding studies. Most students spent most time reading during the exams and the libraries were frequented when studying and researching were required. As for student political life, most activities derived from demands for rights and vested interests and weakpoints in university administration. Factors having impacts upon Khon Kaen student life and behavior included university environment, conditions of student dormitories, student culture and traditions, teaching and learning characteristics, peers, university administration, student characteristics, families and social groups prior to university entrance, social conditions, political conditions of the country and media. These factors influenced the student life differently, some factors having specific impacts while some affecting student life in many aspects.
