Abstract:
The objective of this research was to examine marketing feasibility, financial feasibility, and management feasibility of running an organic beauty salon. This was both quantitative and qualitative research. The results showed that many of the consumers had a shampoo and blow dry at 69.1 percent, went in the evening at 47.4 percent, chose a service in a department store at 70.4 percent, came alone at 64.2 percent, had a frequency of using a service 1-2 times a week at 44 percent, and each time spent 501 1,000 Baht at 34.7 percent. Observing marketing mix that affected consumer behavior in choosing a service of beauty salon, the most important factor appeared to be physical evidence averaged 4.18, the 2nd factor was process averaged 4.10, the 3rd factor was people averaged 4.05, the 4th factor was promotion averaged 4.02, the 5th factor was place averaged 3.99, the 6th factor was product averaged 3.80, and the last factor was price averaged 3.73. In the price aspect total investment was equal to 4,804,000 Baht, the monthly sales forecast was 45,500 Baht (16,625,750 Baht per year), the sales increased by 5 percent a year, the product cost, which calculated from 15 percent of the sales, yearly averaged 2,493,862 Baht, and the process cost was 11,854,225 Baht per year. Next, the first annual net profit was 1,316,396 Baht, the weighted average cost of capital (WACC) was at 13 percent, the payback period took 2 years and 4 months, the net present value (NPV) was 2,088,587 Baht, and the internal rate of return (IRR) was at 28.80 percent. In managing hair salon business, the equipment used had to be high quality with a hair caring, hair and scalp microscopic analysis (400X) had to be concerned in each process, consumer data collection was needed in order to gather their behaviors, needs and to inform them about salon information or promotion. The physical location inside was luxurious, clean, clear of the weather, and relaxed. People of the salon should pass service mind training and skills testing. The salon size was 100 m2 located in a department store opening from 10:00 a.m. 21:00 p.m. There were 18 service people: 12 hairstylists/ assistants, manager, cashier, receptionist, and janitor. For the income, there were earning 100 percent of commission fee and earning both salary and commission fee.
