Abstract:
The present study aims to examine the factors affecting perception and behaviors of operational employees in production department of an auto parts manufacturers in Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate, Chonburi Province. There were 250 participants. It is a survey research which employed mix-method, i.e. quantitative and qualitative methods. A questionnaire and indepth-interview questions were the instruments. A statistical program was used to analyze the data. Statistics and content analysis were found. The findings on personal factors of the operational employees in production department showed that most of respondents were female in the age of 31 40 year old with high school certificates or diploma. They had 1 5 years of experience. They reported never had accidents at work and had been trained about safety. The perception of work safety of the operational employees in production department was in the high level ( x = 3.99). The participants also reported having behaviors related to safety in the high level ( x = 4.11). Participants with different personal factors, i.e. gender, age, level of education, and experience, had similar behaviors related to safety. However, those with different experiences in accident at work and trainings about safety had different behaviors related to safety. Perception on safety management was found a relationship with behaviors related to safety of the operational employees in production department. The executives had policy to support safety management. They occasionally provided meetings on safety with employees. There should be a bulletin board about safety and activities supporting safety with some rewards. The company should provide consulting sessions by doctors or nurses and prepare an appropriate rest area.
