Abstract:
The objectives of this research were 1) to study the job characteristics, the organizational climate and the organizational commitment of municipality personnel in Mueang district, Pathum Thani province, 2) to study the relationship between the job characteristics and the organizational commitment of municipality personnel in Mueang district, Pathum Thani province, 3) to study the relationship between the organizational climate and the organizational commitment of municipality personnel in Mueang district, Pathum Thani province, and 4) to study the problems and offer suggestions for developing the organizational commitment of municipality personnel in Mueang district, Pathum Thani province. The sample of the study consisted of 186 responders who were selected from the municipality personnel in Mueang district, Pathum Thani province by proportional stratified sampling. The data were collected by questionnaire. The statistic used for data analysis consisted of frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and Pearsons correlation coefficient. The results showed that: 1) Basic data analysis revealed that the job characteristics of municipality personnel in Mueang district, Pathum Thani province was, overall, at a high level ( = 4.12). The organizational climate of personnel in Mueang District Municipalities, Pathum Thani Province was at a good level ( = 3.93), and the organizational commitment of personnel in Mueang District Municipalities, Pathum Thani Province was also at a high level ( = 3.94). 2) The results of the hypothesis testing showed that the job characteristics of municipality personnel in Mueang district, Pathum Thani province had a positive relationship with the organizational commitment at the 0.01 level of significance and that the organizational climate also had a positive relationship with the organizational commitment of municipality personnel in Mueang district, Pathum Thani province at the 0.01 level of significance. 3) The study of problems revealed that some personnel did not follow the rules and regulations of the organization and that there were conflicts from working together. As a suggestion, the organization should control the personnel to ensure they strictly follow the organizational regulations. The conflicts should be managed in way that helps develop the organizational commitment of the personnel.
