Abstract:
The purposes of this study were to study the effectiveness of the employment of an
instructional package for improving dyslexic Prathomsuksa 2 students reading skills in Thai
spelling and to investigate their satisfaction with the instructional package.
The participants in the research were seven Prathomsuksa 2 students with learning
disabilities in reading at Temrak Suksa School in the academic year 2016. The instruments of the
research consisted of an instructional package for enhancing reading skills in Thai spelling, a
reading-skill evaluation test, a pre-test and post-test of the participants reading performance before
and after the employment of the instructional package, and a satisfaction evaluation form. The
statistical methods for data analysis included the percentage, mean, standard deviation, and
independent-samples t-test.
The findings showed that, based on the E [subscript1]/E [subscript2] criteria, the instructional package was
effective at 76.10/75.43 The participants performance after the study was better than that before the
study. Their average score after the study (mean= 18.86, S.D. =1.70) was higher than that before the
study(mean=8.36, S.D.=1.62) The t-test value of their performance after the study was higher than that
before the study at 4.50 with a statistically significant difference at the level of 0.05 The participants
also showed a high level of satisfaction with the instructional package (mean= 4.87).
