Abstract: The objective of this study is to analyze the export performance of the Thai agriculture products and manufacturing products to Japan, as well as examine some factors that impact on the expansion those major export items to the Japan. Six products among those major export products to Japan are identified as two categories, the agricultural products and manufacturing products which each categories have three products each ,Frozen shrimps, natural rubber and sugar are classified as agricultural products, while automatic data processing machines and parts thereof, belong to the manufacturing products. The statistical analysis, the Constant Market Share (CMS) Model and Revealed Comparative advantage (RCA) Index Model are the methods used to study the export performance of all these products. From the statistical analysis for the years 1989-1998, it can be seen that the structure of the Thai exports to Japan had trended upward but the value decreased during economic crisis period 1997-1998. The manufacturing products were most export to Japan The products had trended upward such as sugar and electronic integrated circuits and The products had trended downward such as frozen shrimps, natural rubber, automatic data processing machines and parts thereof, radio broadcast receives, television receives and parts thereof. The study under the CMS model was divided into two periods: 1995-1996 and 1997-1998 The overall picture shows that the expansion of Thai exports were reliant on the growth of the market and the demand for the products. Furthermore, only natural rubber, sugar and radio broadcast receives, television receives and parts thereof had comparative advantage. For the 1997- 1998 period, the expansion of the Thai exports was still reliant on the market growth. What’s more there was a fall in the demands for some products, and only automatic data processing machines and parts thereof and radio broadcast receives, television receives and parts thereof were in demand. There was also an increase in the Thai export competitiveness, especially in the products such as natural rubber, sugar, electronic integrated circuits and radio broadcast receives, television receives and parts thereof. By using the RCA model for the year 1995-1998, comparing the Thai exports to Chains Singapore, Malaysia Philippines and Indonesia, the results show that Thailand has the most comparative advantage in sugar, while frozen shrimps, natural rubber and radio broadcast receives, television receives and parts thereof have also comparative advantage. Thailand has on comparative advantage in automatic data processing machines and parts thereof, and electronic integrated circuits.

Abstract: การศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความสามารถในการส่งออกสินค้าเกษตรและสินค้าอุตสาหกรรมไปญี่ปุ่นและศึกษาถึงปัจจัยบางประการที่มีผลกระทบต่อการขยายตัวของการส่งออกสินค้าเกษตรและอุตสาหกรรมของไทยในสินค้าที่สำคัญ ในการศึกษานี้ได้กำหนดสินค้าที่ทำการศึกษาไว้ 6 สินค้า แบ่งเป็นสินค้าเกษตร 3 สินค้า ได้แก่ กุ้งแช่แข็ง, ยางพาราและน้ำตาล ส่วนสินค้าอุตสาหกรรมได้แก่ เครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์และส่วนประกอบ, แผงวงจรไฟฟ้าและเครื่องรับวิทยุโทรทัศน์และส่วนประกอบ ใช้การวิเคราะห์ทางสถิติ, แบบจำลองส่วนแบ่งตลาดคงที่และดัชนีความได้เปรียบที่ปรากฏเพื่อศึกษาถึงความสามารถในการส่งออกสินค้าดังกล่าว จากการศึกษาโดยใช้การวิเคราะห์ทางสถิติ ช่วงเวลาทำการศึกษา 2532-2541 ในภาพรวมพบว่า โครงสร้างการส่งออกสินค้าของไทยไปญี่ปุ่นมีแนวโน้มเพิ่มขึ้นแต่ช่วงที่เกิดวิกฤตเศรษฐกิจ (2540-2541) ทำให้มูลค่าการส่งออกของไทยลดลง สินค้าส่งออกส่วนใหญ่เป็นสินค้าอุตสาหกรรม และ พบว่ามูลค่าการส่งของไทยมีแนวโน้มเพิ่มขึ้นได้แก่ น้ำตาล, แผงวงจรไฟฟ้า ส่วนสินค้าที่มีแนวโน้มลดลงได้แก่ กุ้งแช่แข็ง, ยางพารา , เครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์และส่วนประกอบและเครื่องรับวิทยุโทรทัศน์และส่วนประกอบ จากการศึกษาโดยใช้แบบจำลองส่วนแบ่งตลาดคงที่ แบ่งการศึกษาออกเป็น 2 ช่วงเวลา ช่วงปี 2538-2539 และช่วงปี 2540-2541 ในภาพรวมช่วงปี 2538-2539 พบว่าการส่งออกของไทย ส่วนใหญ่เกิดการขยายตัวของตลาด และความต้องการสินค้า ในขณะที่ความได้เปรียบในการแข่งขันมีเฉพาะสินค้าบางตัว ได้แก่ ยางพารา, น้ำตาลและเครื่องรับวิทยุโทรทัศน์และส่วนประกอบส่วนในภาพรวมช่วงปี 2540-2541 พบว่าการส่งออกของไทยยังคงเกิดจากการขยายตัวของตลาดเป็นส่วนใหญ่ ในขณะที่ความต้องการสินค้าลดลง มีบางสินค้าที่ยังมีความต้องการนำเข้าอยู่ ได้แก่ เครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์และส่วนประกอบ และเครื่องรับวิทยุโทรทัศน์และส่วนประกอบ ส่วนความได้เปรียบในการแข่งขันของไทยในสินค้าบางตัวเพิ่มขึ้น ได้แก่ ยางพารา, น้ำตาล, แผงวงจรไฟฟ้าและเครื่องรับวิทยุโทรทัศน์และส่วนประกอบ และจากการศึกษาโดยใช้ดัชนีความได้เปรียบที่ปรากฏ ช่วงเวลาทำการศึกษา 2538-2541 ประเทศที่ใช้ทำการศึกษา ได้แก่ จีน, สิงค์โปร, ฟิลิปปินส์, มาเลเซีย, และอินโดนีเซีย เพื่อเปรียบเทียบความได้เปรียบในแต่ละสินค้า จากการศึกษาพบว่า สินค้าที่ประเทศไทยมีความได้เปรียบโดยเปรียบเทียบมากกว่าประเทศอื่น ๆ ได้แก่ น้ำตาล ส่วนกุ้งแช่แข็ง,ยางพารา และเครื่องรับวิทยุโทรทัศน์และส่วนประกอบ ไทยมีความได้เปรียบโดยเปรียบเทียบเป็นอันดับสองในขณะที่เครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์และส่วนประกอบและแผงวงจรไฟฟ้าไทยไม่มีความได้เปรียบโดยเปรียบเทียบกับประเทศอื่น ๆ
