Abstract:
The purposes of this research were : 1) to study the mathematical abilities on patterns of young children experienced through designed bead string activity and to compare the mathematical ability on patterns of young children between before and after the management of the experience through designed bead string activity, 2) to compare the mathematical ability on patterns of young children experienced through the experience of designed bead string activity with those of young children experienced throughfree bead string activity. The sample in this research included 34 boys and girls, 5-6 years old, studying in the second year of kindergarten in the second semester of academic year 2012 at Bann Khamhaiyai School and Bann Nonghin School under the Ubon Rachathani Primary Educational Service Area Office 1. They were selected by cluster sampling. The instruments used in this research were the lesson plans of the experience through designed bead string activity and those of the experience through free bead string activity, a test of mathematical abilities on patterns with a reliability of 0.82, and a test of mathematical abilities on patterns situation with reliability of 0.85. The qualitative method was used through observation of mathematical abilities on pattern behavior of young children individually, The statistics used to analyze the data were mean, standard deviation, and hypothesis testing were analyzed by dependent t-test and independent t-test.The results of the study were as follows : 1) The level of mathematical abilities on patterns of young children experienced through designed bead string activity was good in overall and in each aspect: recognize a pattern, describe a pattern, create a pattern. The aspect of extend a pattern was fair. The mathematical abilities on patterns of young children experienced through designed bead string activity after the experiment was higher than that before the experiment at the level of statistical significant .05 in overall and in each aspect.2. The mathematical abilities on patterns of young children experienced through designed bead string activity were higher those of young children experienced through the free bead string activity at the level of statistical significant .05 in overall and in each aspect.
