Abstract:
This study analyzes the effect of adjacent pile under loading on the existing tunnel by 3D finite element method. It aims to get better understanding on the interaction between existing tunnel and adjacent loaded pile. The case study is the tunnel of MRTA project subjected to an adjacent 1 m bored pile under loading with various lengths and clearances. The bored pile is subjected to its working load in the analysis. The ground profile is varied while the tunnel depth is fixed at 20 m from ground surface. The results indicate that the significant factors are the relative position of the pile tip with respect to the tunnel position as well as the soil type in which the tunnel is constructed. The additional forces (bending moment and axial force) in tunnel lining and the tunnel deformations (Ưv and ƯH) are similar tendency. In addition, the maximum changes of tunnel diameter suitably assessed the tunnel deformation due to pile loading are proposed
