A comparison of science process skills and questioning ability of the lower secondary school students between groups learning science with and without practicing questions enhancing science process skills
Abstract:
The purposes of this research were 1) study science process skills and questioning ability of the lower secondary school students after practicing questions enhancing science process skills in science class. 2) compare science process skills and questioning ability of the lower secondary school students between groups learning science with and without practicing questions enhancing science process skills. The sample were two groups of mathayom suksa two students of Chulalongkorn University Demonstration School. They were devided into two groups: an experimental group with 33 students; learned by practicing questions enhancing science process skills and a control group with 33 student; learned without practicing questions enhancing science process skills. The research instruments were 1) a test of science process skills, the reliability of the test was 0.90 2) a test of questioning ability, the reliability of the test of questioning ability was 0.70. The collected data were analyzed by means of percentage, arithmetic means, standard deviation and t-test. The research findings were summarized as follows: 1. The average score of science process skills of the students learned by practicing questions enchancing science process skills was higher than 70 percent which was the criterion score. 2. The average score of questioning ability of the students learned by practicing questions enhancing science process skills was higher than 70 percent which was the criterion score. 3. The science process skills of students learned by practicing questions enhancing science process skills was higher than those learned without practicing questions enhancing science process skill at the 0.05 level of significance. 4. The questioning ability of students learned by practicing questions enhancing science process skills was higher those learned without practicing questions enhancing science process skills at the 0.05 level of significance.
