Abstract:
To study personal factors, staff development, team working, and work productivity of staff nurses, community hospitals, and the relationships between personal factors, staff development, team working, and work productivity of staff nurses, community hospitals, and to determine variables which could predict work productivity of staff nurses, community hospitals. The sample consisted of 361 staff nurses, selected by multi stage sampling technique. The research instruments were personal factors, staff development, team working, and work productivity of staff nurses questionnaires. The Cronbach{174}s alpha coefficients of these instruments were .92, .95, and .87, respectively. The data were analyzed by using percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson{174}s product moment correlation, chi-square, contingency, and multiple regression analysis. The major findings were as follows 1. The mean score of staff development was at medium level (3.49) The mean score of team working and work productivity were at high level (3.36 and 3.95, respectively). 2. There were no significant relationships between age, marital status, education and work productivity. There were significant relationships between team working, staff development, working time, and work productivity of staff nurses (r=.577, .423, and .087, respectively), at the .05 level. 3. Variables that could predict work productivity of staff nurses were team working, staff development, working time, at the .05 level. The predictors accounted for 35.9% of variance (R2=0.359). The predictor equation in standard scores form can be stated as follow: Z'Work productivity=.477 Z Team working+.180 Z Staff development+.139 Z Working time
