Abstract:
To success in managing construction project, project manager is one of the most important compositions. In general, each project manager is different in knowledge, capability and experience. Since the evaluation of project manager is evaluated by primary qualifications but qualification factors and degree of importance of each qualification is not distinct. The objective of this research is to analyze qualification factors and degree of importance of qualification factors for evaluating construction project manager in Thailand. The research methodologies are 1) to study qualification factors of construction project manager by reviewing literatures and 2) to verify qualification factors and analyze degrees of important of each project manager's qualification factors by collecting data 3 times following Delphi technique and validating by professionals. The first time is to interview the professionals and experts for exploring the qualification factors of construction project manager in 3 groups, e.g., 1) general qualifications, 2) management qualifications, and 3) construction management qualifications divided into 3 periods of construction, e.g., project starting period, construction period and project finishing period. Then, to survey and collect data by using questionnaires used for analysis of degree of importance of project manager's qualification factors. The results of this research show that the most important qualification in general qualification is experience; in management qualification are planning and negotiation; in construction management qualification at the project starting period are capability in developing master schedule, planning the construction methods and estimating budget and expense; in construction period are capability in controlling schedules, expenses and coordinating with head office; in project finishing period are the capability in coordinating with the owner and consultants to finish the project. For other qualification factors are important.
