Abstract:
Since we are living in an era of globalization and information technology across borders, the Internet plays an important role in business and education. It has been introduced to educational institutions in Thailand especially at the tertiary level. This information technology helps reduce expenditure and increase the effectiveness of teaching. The combination of on-line teaching and traditional teaching can be more effective than solely traditional teaching. The computer is a medium of teaching through the Internet. The computer can be a tutor, tool application and a means for educational drill. It can give the students instant feedback and can effectively reinforce the students learning. Online teaching is active learning focusing on the students. The students accumulate new knowledge and understanding by themselves and can relate the learning process to every aspect of real life. In architecture, teaching theories is important and depends on the teaching process and communicative means so that the architecture students can thoroughly understand those theories. As a result, the students can really put the theories into practice. Only in-class lectures with other teaching aids may not be enough due to the students styles of learning, the length of teaching and the lack of means to search for needed information while studying in class. The computer can create a simulation for students and interactive teaching and learning through the internet can be a supplementary teaching aid. As for the subjects in the Faculty of Architecture which consist of both theory and practice, the students have to interact with the lessons and the instructors. This research chose Studio in Design 1 as a case study. It was found that this kind of teaching and learning stimulated the students interest; as a result, they could understand the lessons clearly and quickly. They could learn better through this interactive learning. In addition, interactive teaching and learning can be applied with other subjects.
