Desirable Characteristics of Office Directors as Percemed by School Administrtors and Educational Personnel Under Kanchanburi Educational Service Area Office
Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to 1) study actual characteristics and desirable characteristics of Kanchanaburi office directors, 2) compare their actual characteristics and desirable characteristics, 3) compare their actual characteristics, 4) compare their desirable characteristics as perceived by school administrators and educational personnel in the offices, 5) compare their actual characteristics classified by educational service areas, and
6) compare the desirable characteristics of the directors, classified by educational service areas. The sample group in this study consisted of 257 school administrators and educational personnel in Kanchanaburi Educational Service Area Office, obtained by proportional stratified random sampling. A constructed five-scale rating questionnaire with a reliability of 0.96 was used as a tool to collect data. Statistics employed for data analysis were percentage, Arithmetic mean, Standard Deviation, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Scheffe through computer program.
The results of this study revealed that the actual characteristics of the directors both in an overall and each aspect were at high level, as follows: personality, human-relation, ethics, academic knowledge, leadership, and administrative ability, respectively. The desirable characteristics of the directors both in an overall and each aspect were at the highest level, as follows: ethics, personality, leadership, human-relation, academic knowledge, and administrative ability, respectively.
The comparison between the actual and desirable characteristics of the directors revealed that they were significantly different at .01 level. Their actual characteristics as perceived by the school administrators and educational personnel were significantly different at .01 level, while the desirable characteristics of the directors as perceived by the school administrators and educational personnel were not significantly different at .05 level. The actual characteristics of the directors classified by educational service areas were significantly different at the level of .01, while the desirable characteristics of the directors classified by educational service areas were also significantly different at .05 level
