Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to examine the level of work motivation and morale among non-commissioned government officers working for Anti-Aircraft Artillery Division 4. Also, this study attempted to investigate the relationship between work motivation and morale among these non-commissioned government officers as well as examining ways to boost their work morale and respond to their needs. The population participating in this study was 130 non-commissioned government officers working for Anti-Aircraft Artillery Division 4. The instrument used to collect the data comprised four test batteries, including a questionnaire asking for general information, test of work motivation, test of morale in working, and an open-ended question asking for opinion and suggestions. The statistical tests used to analyze the collected data included frequency, percentage, means, standard deviation, Pearson product moment coefficient, and content analysis. The results of this study revealed that non-commissioned government officers working for AntiAircraft Artillery Division 4 had a high level of work motivation. When considering each supporting factor, the aspect in relation to the relationship with supervisor and co-workers was rated at the highest level, followed by policies and administration of work unit, occupational status and job advancement, job security and security of work unit, salary and fringe benefits, respectively. Every aspect was rated at a high level by the subjects. When considering each urging factor, it was found that the factors in relation to respect and acceptance as well as the satisfaction from the assigned work were rated at the highest level by the subjects, followed by the factor relating to work achievement. Also, it was shown that the subjects had a high level of morale in working. Specifically, they rated the aspect in relation to organizational commitment at the highest level. Furthermore, they had a high moral for the aspects of work achievement and acceptance, job security, and solidarity among workers. In addition, positive relationships were found between work motivation in relation to both supporting and urging factors and the level of work morale of non-commissioned government officers working for AntiAircraft Artillery Division 4. Finally, it was suggested that the amount of salary and fringe benefits should be increased for these non-commissioned government officers.
