Abstract: Friedelin (21), epifriedelanol (23), stigmasterol (24) และbetulinic acid (25) เป็นสารประกอบที่แยกได้จากส่วนใบและกิ่งของต้นก้างปลาขาว (Flueggea virosa) เมื่อนำสาร 21 มาเปลี่ยนแปลงหมู่ฟังก์ชันด้วยปฏิกิริยาเบเยอร์-วิลลิเกอร์ ออกซิเดชันได้สาร heptanolide (22) จากนั้นนำสารทั้งหมดไปพิสูจน์โครงสร้างทางเคมี โดยใช้วิธีการทางสเปกโทรสโคปีและทดสอบความเป็นพิษ โดยติดตามฤทธิ์ต้านการเพิ่มจำนวนเซลล์มะเร็งพบว่า สาร21,22, 23 และ24 ออกฤทธิ์ต้านการเพิ่มจำนวนเซลล์มะเร็งได้น้อย โดยมีสาเหตุจากสมบัติการละลายน้ำของสารทั้ง 4 ต่ำ และผลการศึกษายังได้บ่งชี้ว่า สาร25 ซึ่งแสดงคุณสมบัติความเป็นพิษต่อเซลล์มะเร็งได้ดี โดยแสดงฤทธิ์การยับยั้งการแบ่งตัวของเซลล์มะเร็งลง 50 เปอร์เซ็นต์ (IC50) ในเซลล์มะเร็งตัวอ่อนเม็ดเลือดแดงที่ไวต่อยาดอกโซรูบิซิน (K562) ที่ระดับความเข้มข้นเท่ากับ 9.7±2.1 ไมโครกรัมต่อมิลลิลิตรหรือ 21.2±4.6 ไมโครไมลาร์ และในเซลล์มะเร็งตัวอ่อนเม็ดเลือดแดงที่ดื้อต่อยาดอกโซรูบิซิน (K562/Adr) ที่ระดับความเข้มข้นเท่ากับ 7.1±0.7 ไมโครกรัมต่อมิลลิลิตร หรือ 15.5±1.5 ไมโครไมลาร์ จากผลดังกล่าวแสดงให้เห็นว่า สาร25 สามารถผ่านเข้าสู่เซลล์ชนิดที่ดื้อต่อยา K562/Adr ได้โดยไม่ถูกขับออกนอกเซลล์โดยโปรตีนขนส่งชนิด MDR1 (ABCB1)
