Abstract:
The objective of this research was to study competency needs assessment for library staff in
Library Resources and Educational Medias Center, University of Phayao. The population in this study
consisted of 19 library staff in Library Resources and Educational Medias Center, University of Phayao.
The study of core competency 5 aspects and performance in the 7. The research instrument was
questionnaire towards competency needs assessment of library staff by researchers with dual-response
format at 5 rating scale measurement followed by both expected stage and authentic stage that were
as same as the library staff thought levels. The research statistics used in this study were frequency,
percentage, standard deviation, which were analyzed by computer program.
The finding of this research were as follows: Competency needs assessment for library staff
authentic stage average levels are actually lower than the average of all levels expected stage average
to improve performance. And overall core competency 5 aspects to develop a sort each aspect according
to the importance from most to least: 1) Achievement Motivation and Expertise. 2). Service mind 3) Teamwork.
4) Integrity. For functional competency 7 aspect the overall performance along party lines to develop a
sort each aspect according to its importance from most to least: 1) Conceptual. 2) Analytical Thinking.
3) Pro Activeness. 4) Information Seeking. 5) Concern for Order. 6) flexibility and Communication & Influencing.
