Abstract:
Purposes: The purposes of this research were to study and to compare the teachers and parents opinions on desirable behavior of secondary school students. Recommendations for the improvement of instructional activities beneficial to the modification of students behavior were also proposed. Hypothesis: 1. There are no significantly different between male teachers and male guardians opinions concerning desirable behavior of secondary school students. 2. There are no significantly different between female teachers and female guardians opinions concerning desirable behavior of secondary school students. 3. There are no significantly different between male teachers and female teachers opinions concerning desirable behavior of secondary school students. 4. There are no significantly different between male guardians and female guardians opinions concerning desirable behavior of secondary school students. 5. There are no significantly different between teachers and parents opinions concerning desirable behavior of secondary school students. Procedures : The samples of this study comprised 2 categories. The first category composed of 250 teachers from 25 metropolitan secondary schools. They were government, private and demonstration schools. The second category composed of 250 parents of the students from those 25 schools already mentioned. Both categories of samples were secured by simple random sampling. The questionnaires constructed by the researcher composed of rating scale and open-ended items. The results were computed by mean, pooled mean, standard deviation, pooled standard deviation, z-test and percentage then tabulated and explained descriptively. Findings: The major findings of their study were as follows: concerning the students personal heath behaviors: avoidance of drugs was rated to be the most important, and first aid skill was rated as the least important. On the students learning behaviors : having attention to learn regularly was rated as most important, and well roundedness in general areas of knowledge was rated as least important. About the behaviors of students themselves : being honest to himself was rated as most important, art and music participation was rated as least important. Concerning the students interpersonal behaviors : being grateful to helpers was rated as most important, and eagerness for social improvement was rated as least important. Concerning the students behaviors towards politic, government, religion and national culture: realization of the nation, religion and monarchy as the most important institution of the country was rated as most important, and proper participation in religious activities was rated as least important. Comparing the teachers and parents opinions, the opinions on the students personal health behaviors were significantly different at the level of .01 learning behaviors and behaviors towards politics government, religion and national culture were significantly different at the level of .05. Besides, the behaviors of students themselves and interpersonal behaviors were no significant differences at the level of .05. Both teachers and the parents agreed that drug adios was the most crucial problem for secondary school students. The causes of students misbehaviors might be the feeling of insecurity and broken family. In order to solve the problem, adults should behave as good model of conduct and full attention and co-operation from all social institutions should be encouraged.
