Abstract:
Purposes : 1. To study the cadets interest in reading Thai daily newspaper. 2. To study the influence of Thai daily newspaper on the study of the cadets as perceived by themselves. 3. To compare perception of four force cadets : Army, Navy, Air Force and Police cadets on reading Thai daily newspaper. Methodology The research was to study the influence of Thai daily newspaper on the study of cadets perception in the year 1985. The 528 subjects were derived from stratified random sampling form all 4 farces : Army, Navy, Air Force and Police. The instrument used to collect the data was questionnaires concerning with the interest of reading daily newspaper and the influences of the papers on the study according to the cadets opinions. The influences of the newspaper were determined by 8 aspects as the following : intellectual, initiativeness of creative thinking, moral and thinking, fruitful leisure time, reading skill development, increasing general knowledge, sociological and economical knowledge, and behavioral and psycho-socio-logical knowledge Data were analyzed by means of percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation and one-way analysis of variance Finding : The finding of the study can by summarized as follow. 1. Most of cadets interest was that the cadets usually read twice or three times a week in an uncertain period of time. They mainly read Thai-Rath and Daily News. The purpose of reading were to catch up with the current events for entertainment and conversation topic. They usually read the headlines first. According to the cadets opinion. The newspapers were of great advantage and disadvantage. The advantage was that they could spend as the leisure time, broaden and update their knowledge. The disadvantage was that reading might bring bad attitude and auxiety to them. So the news papers ought to be improved and present current news just in time. It should not be the fool of same groups of people or any political party. The presentation of the news should not weaken unity. 2. Upon the influences of Thai daily newspapers on education, it was found that most of the cadets indicated that reading newspapers on news gave them knowledge in social, economics and politics; knowledge aspect influenced general knowledge; opinion aspect influenced reading skill development; entertainment aspect influenced spending leisure time : and advertisement influenced behavior in social and socio-psychology the most. In considering the Thai daily newspapers content that influenced education, it was found that cadets newspapers reading influenced education only on reading it for knowledge news and for opinions. 3. In comparison among opinions in reading for contents of Thai daily newspapers in different fields among the cadets (four forces) it indicated that. 3.1. Among the cadets of the three forces, there were no differences in different of fields of content that influenced every field of study 3.2. There were differences at .05 between the three forces and the police forces and in the field of news, knowledge and opinions that influenced every field of study 3.3. There were no differences between the cadets of three forces and police cadets in the field of entertainment and advertisement that influenced every field of study.
