Abstract:
The objective of this research is to study identity and existence of the Nativity of Our
Ladys Cathedral in the Bangnok-Khuek Community, Samutsongkhram Province. The sample
group in this research has been Catholics in the community, The Brother Prelate, group of sisters
and brothers, and the committee of the Pastoral Council of Cathedral, the Nativity of Our Ladys
Cathedral in the Bangnok-Khuek Community, using qualitative approach.
The finding of the research result indicated that coconut has been the economic stake
of Bangnok-Khuek Community of the Nativity of Our Ladys Cathedral, since coconut has been
the localitys crop. The coconut gardening has been the main occupation of the community
people. Brother Paolo Salmon was the initiator of this cultivation. The incomes can be generated
to the community people since the past until present and it has become the most obvious and
visible identity of the community. Another outstanding and significant identity has been the
Catholic being spirit of the people in the community with basis from religion. The community
people have adhered to the Christianitys doctrine as the philosophy of living. Even though
physical ecology has been changed, however, mental ecology has not been changed and has still
given the precedence to living moralities from birth until death. The brothers from the past until
present have governed the Bangnok-Khuek Community of the Nativity of Our Ladys Cathedral
applying Pastoral Care. In addition, working transparency with emphasis on virtue and honesty
has also been built as the principle in governing the society of this Catholic community.
The community people have co-existed with friends who have been different in
religions with good relationship and can behave themselves in consistency with the concept of
religious relation by creation of good relationship with the people who have been religious on
other religions.
