Influcnces of Geographical Factors on the Spatial Distribution of Razor Clam (Solen regularis) Dunker at the Coast of Amohoe Muang, Changwat Samutprakarn.
Abstract:
The influences of geographical factors on the Razor clam (Solen regularis) Dunker bed at the coast of Amphoe Muang, Changwat Samutprakarn are an interesting topic due to the location itself becoming a new clam bed. Thus, this thesis is an attempt to express the important geographical factors around this area which effect the clam community in terms of salinity, water temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, amount of nitrate and nitrite, ammonia, phosphoius including the quantity of zoo- plankton and phyto-piankton and soil texture. The field surveys were conducted 12 times (once a month) during January -December 1999. In this study, the basic and secondary data were collected to use as key data for spatial analysis and statistical analysis; furthermore, geographic information system was used as a prominent tool. The results in this thesis are as following:1. The geographical factors analyzed in this study are physical and chemical properties, quantities of phyto-plankton and zoo-plankton, all of which are in water standard level. The factors that have effects all density and size of Razor clam are amount of dissolved oxygen, nitrite, ammonia water temperature, and pH. These factors have both positive and negative effects on the abundance and size of the Razor clam. Existing soil texture of the bed was classified as sand of which sand more than 90% were sand particles.2. The area of the bed is about 2019 rai (323.04 hectare) and the stocking area is about 2,637.65 rai (422.02 hectare).3. Map showing the perspective of total area, size and structure of Razor clam (Solen regularis) Dunker bed at the coa.st of Arnphoe Muang, Changwat Samutprakarn was produced. These information obtained through out this study can be applied for further management and conservation of land and fisheries production around this area.
