Abstract: Osteoarthritis is degenerative disease; it has been shown increased in oxidative stress and that could be affect the cartilage and how the collagen produces. Ascorbic acid is the anti-oxidant that could prevent oxidative stress, promote collagen production. In my case study osteoarthritis was not found to have any relationship to the serum ascorbic acid level. The study was determined in10 patients with osteoarthritis and 10 healthy subjects. The serum ascorbic acid was tested by the HPLC method. The mean of serum ascorbic acid was shown in patient and healthy subjects are 49.42±17.93 and 53.87±10.41 respectively. The t-test statistical was analyzed that there was no significant correlation between the serum ascorbic acid and osteoarthritis (p > 0.05). The Pearson correlation statistical was demonstrated that there was also no correlation between serum ascorbic acid and WOMAC score which included, pain score, stiff joint level and activities ability. Conclusion; the low serum ascorbic level was not correlated to mild and moderate osteoarthritis disease.
