Comparative design of canard and conventional configurations for combat aircraft
Abstract:
This thesis presents the comparative design of canard and conventional
configurations for combat aircraft by using Multi-Variate Optimization Conceptual
Design. This program can model low observable of fuselage and empennage
configuration, the position of each aircraft components, aerodynamics, mass,
propulsion, specified mission profile, point performance and variables analysis. The
design program has been developed with MATLAB m file code using FMINCON
optimization to find the minimum combat aircraft take-off gross mass. For this case
study set the same missions performance and constraints for two configurations
design, the design result is the take-off mass of canard configuration less than
tailplane configuration.
