The charaacteristics of the leaders that affect the people's decision to vote : a case study at Klong Pon sub-distrist, Klong Tom district, Krabi Province
Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to study the characteristics of leaders which could affect the peoples decision to vote for. There were 5 main characteristics focused in this study : personality, leadership skills, human relations, ethics, knowledge and skills in management. The sample group consisted of 332 residents in Klong Pon district who were eligible to vote. Questionnaires were used as tools to collect the data. The statistics employed in analyzing the collected data were percentage, arithmetic means, and S.D.
The results of the study revealed as follows :
The five characteristics of the leaders were found to affect the decision to vote of the people at a high level. When considering each characteristic, it was found that the characteristics were ranked respectively: leadership skills, human relations, ethics, personality, and knowledge and skills in management.
Suggestion for the leaders as guidelines to improve their characters were as follow: personality : leaders should be polite, and dress properly; leadership skill : leaders should be creative, collaborative, and be able to solve problems; human relations: leaders should communicate with local people efficiently; ethics: leaders should work for the community with transparency and honest ; knowledge and skills in management : leaders should update themselves with current knowledge.
