Abstract:
A chemical process industry for producing Bisphenol A is in the specially
chemicals business. Bisphenol A production requires a catalyst, which 15 expensive
and has been imported from overseas market. The use of a catalystis one of the
most important things that can reduce production cost The purpose of this study
is to investigate factors affecting catalyst deactivation, The dehydration reaction 15
the process to produce Bisphenol A from phenol and acetone by using acidic
catalyst to accelerate the reaction under certain conditions of temperature and
pressure. The operating data for this process are collected from taboratory
analysis, Process control is done by computer using Minilab at 95% confidence
level. Multiple regression analysis is used to identify factors affecting deactivation
rate of catalyst. It is found that five parameters have an influence over catalyst
deactivation, including feed rate, catalyst life, fraction of phenolic in feedstock,
fraction of acetone in feedstock, and isopropyl phenol in weight percent (wt.%).
Finding from this study can Increase 1,076 tons of Bisphenol A in its production,
which is worth over 35,000,000 THB.
