Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to create the instructional media of cutting force effect at the different punch-die angles and punch clearances. It was used for teaching and experimenting for students who registered in Production Engineering Practice II class, department of Teacher Training in Mechanical Engineering.
This experimental research used soft aluminum sheet at 1.5 mm. thickness with the eccentric press and hydraulic press machine. The cutting force at different position were measured by 2 ways as (1) noise observation and (2) measurement value. The experimental results showed that they were significant according to the theoretical calculations. The noise from cutting force will decrease when the angle of punch -die was wide-opened. The cutting force will increase when the clearance of punch-die was less.
This instructional media was evaluated by 10 experts who experienced in education, teaching and working with punch -die at least 10 years. The experts' opinions strongly agreed with the developed media with the mean 4.18 and standard deviation 0.68. This media can be helpful of teaching and practicing students to be more skill with tools and dies. Furthermore, students were able to analyze the cutting force when the cutting conditions changed. Finally, they can acknowledge from this media in order to design and manufacture the precise and accurate tool - die.
