Abstract:
The objective of this research was to study the improvement on operations to reduce
stiffness that happens from the works of chain conveyor manufacturer. The results found that
workers bend and lift forged chain at weigh 15 kg. with the 0.2 frequency /minute during 8
hour/day. The second research obtains AL, MPL, RWL at 10.70 kg., 32.10 kg., 10.46 kg.
respectively in which the weight of forged chain can be measured between AL and MPL, higher
than AL, RWL that mean Forged Chain weighted more than acceptable level (AL) and
Recommended in Weight Limit (RWL). This affects to 4 workers upper back pain. Moreover,
Lifting Index (LI) is equal to 1.24 which exceeds standard 1.0. After the improvement by using
material handing, AL, MPL, RWL are equal to 49.67 kg., 149.01 kg., 22.00 kg. respectively.
Level of AL and RWL are higher than the weight of Forged Chain and LI is equal to 0.68.
According to the improvement, worker suffer from stiffness can be decreased and rate of sick are
also reduced obviously.
