Empowering the Potential of Village Health Volunteers Working for Foundation Public Health at Yan Yao Sub-district, Khiri Ratthanikhom District, Surat Thani Province
Abstract:
The research purposes were to 1) study the potential and the need for empowering the potential in village health volunteers working for Foundation Public Health at Yan Yao sub- district, Khiri Ratthanikhom district, Surat Thani province 2) empower their working potential 3) do an experiment and evaluate the findings on that empowering. There were steps and findings as follow.
The first step: all information from documents, researches, and field studies of 79 people in the sample group were all studied and it was found that the village health volunteers working potential level at Yan Yao sub-district, Khiri Ratthanikhom district, Surat Thani province overall was neutral. Their potential level on operation for Foundation Public Health was high. The roles of the village health volunteers, public health operations, and the operations of healthy village were all in the neutral level. From the previous 4 minor aspects, it was found that the need of empowering the potential in the village health volunteers working for Foundation Public Health overall was in the high level. It was summarized into issues to empower the potential as follow 1) roles of the village health volunteers 2) techniques of team work 3) techniques of public relations 4) techniques of motivation and 5) techniques of organization. The second step: the basic information from the first step was applied to plan the workshop consisting of 5 units namely Unit 1: roles of the village health volunteers Unit 2: techniques of team work Unit 3: techniques of public relations Unit 4: techniques of motivation and Unit 5: techniques of organization. Each unit included 1) behavioral objectives 2) content 3) training techniques 4) time 5) materials and equipment and 6) evaluation. The workshop plan checked by the nine experts gained values more than 0.50 for every item and was suitable in the highest level. The third step: from the results of the workshop with the single sample group of 30 people and the evaluation with pre and posttest and the comparative analysis with t-test, the findings were that the post-test average scores of both knowledge and attitude levels were higher than the pre-test in a statistical significant difference at 0.05 and the finding of skill was high.
