Abstract:
The objectives of the cross-sectional research were to explain health belief, health literacy and investigate the factors influencing to health promoting behaviors among patients with coronary disease in Chiang Rai Prachanukroh hospital, Chiang Rai province. Data were collected through a questionnaire of which reliability and validity from 203 samples of the patients with coronary disease at Heart Center in Chiang Rai Prachanukroh hospital, selected by purposive sampling during December, 2012-January, 2013. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and Multiple regression. The results showed that the level of health belief, health literacy and health promoting behaviors were high (97.5 %, 50.74% and 49.3%). The result identifies four independents variables significantly influencing to health promoting behaviors among patients with coronary disease; perceived of benefit (pvalue = 0.05), perceived of risk to complication (p-value = 0.05), education (p-value = 0.05) and health literacy (p-value = 0.05). Those affecting factors could predict health promoting behaviors at 18.2 %.
