Abstract:
This is the independent study of the relationship between the essential oils and humans body elements, as of Thai traditional medical science, based on two experiments. The first experiment was applied with volunteers covering all four types of body element and the second experiment was fine- tuned for the better accuracy but covered only air and fire elements. The experiments were conducted in the controlled environment (in a room with an operating diffuser). Each volunteer was asked to be in the room for 20 minutes for each session, exposing to the
selected essential oils fume. The essential oils fumes were selected as straight forward, neutral, and opposite to individual body elements, as referred to the fume-body elements correlation diagram (Dr. Martin Henglien). The control measurements were the monitoring of physical reactions (measuring of blood pressure and pulse) and emotional effects (surveying of feeling and satisfaction via questionnaires). As of the results, there were changes in blood pressure and pulse. Also, there was satisfaction towards all fumes but was no relationship to body elements as initially assumed. However, participated volunteers experienced the relaxation and freshness. Conclusively, from this study, there is no correlation between essential oils and body elements, neither physical nor emotional.
