Effects of organizing non-formal education activities on vocational knowledge, attitude and skills of members of the air force wives club in Lopburi province
Abstract:
The purposes of this study were to 1) to create non-formal education activities based on action learning for the air force wives club members in Lopburi province; 2) compare the results of non-formal education activities in vocational knowledge, attitude, and skills of the air force wives club members in Lopburi province between before and after the experiment; 3) study vocational skills of the air force wives club members in Lopburi province after the experiment; and 4) study participants satisfaction towards non formal education activities. This research was pre-experimental research. Forty samples were selected from 550 air forces wives between the ages of 30 to 50. They were divided into two groups: 23 were in the experimental group and another 23 were in the controlled group. They involved in the activities for 50 hours. The research instruments were the activity plan, the vocational knowledge test, the vocational attitude test, the vocational skill observation form and the satisfaction form. The data were analyzed by using Means ( ), Standard Deviation (S.D.), and dependent-samples t (t-test) at .05 level of significance. The results of this study were as follows : 1. The programs processes comprised of 1) to create nice learning environment/good atmosphere and to set learning objectives; 2) to divide participants into group of 5- 7; 3) to have a meeting for planning, examining, setting a goal, and issuing what to learn and practice; (4) practicing vocational skill and if there are any problems, the group members can be less than 5-7 persons; (5) assessing and evaluating the learning progress and plan for the next step; (6) repeating vocational skill implementation; and (7) making summary of a learning process report. 2. The results of activities experiment shown that the experimental group had means scores of vocational knowledge and attitude after experiment higher than before experiment at .05 level of significance. 3. The results of activities experiment shown that the experimental group had means scores of vocational skill after experiment at the high level. 4. The results of activities experiment shown that the experimental group had satisfaction towards non formal education activities at the high level.
