Abstract:
The research examined user requirements , evaluations and suggestions about the services at Central library , King Mongkuts Institute of Technology North Bangkok. Participants were 224 lecturers and officers, 1,910 graduates and undergraduates. The instrument was a questionnaire and analysis the information by using percentage statistics. The results show that officers who had more than 10 year experience used the library more often than lecturers and did not attend a library training course while graduates and undergraduates were trained how to use the library. All participants searched for information from data bases, internet and browsing. Most of the participants came to the library during the week day. The service most used was that of circulation services, the borrowing of books. Lecturers and officers did not use the photocopy service often. Students used reference books more often, but used the audiovisual service only a few times. The information service which the participants used the least was gazette. Lecturers and officers did not know about the pamphlet and clipping service and also the students did not know about the reserve book service. Lecturers and officers needed teaching materials but the least used was picture / slide duplicates. The students needed cassettes (TC,ITC) the least and did not know about the picture / slide duplicate service. The participants found needed information by searching the Internet on WEB services. Lecturers and officers needed CD-ROMs the least and did not know about digital journal. The students needed the digital journal the least and did not know about journal link. Another service which participants needed was a library orientation. Lecturers and officers needed a clip broad the least and students did not know about the KMITNB archive. They needed more opening hours, until 21.00 p.m. The perception of materials, building environment and services in the library is at a medium level.
