A Study on Factors Affecting Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever Prevention and Control Behaviors of People in Maesai Subdistrict, Maesai District, Chiang Rai Province
Abstract:
The descriptive study, aimed to study behaviors in preventing dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF), factors influencing behaviors and factors which could predict behaviors, was conducted in Maesai Subdistrict, Maesai District, Chiang Rai Province. The sample consisted of 280 family leaders or representatives selected by simple random sampling. The instruments used for data collection were questionnaires developed and based on the PRECEDE Framework (Green & Kreuter, 1991). The factors included predisposing factors, enabling factors, and reinforcing factors. Data analysis to determine relationship by t-test, ANOVA correlation and multiple regression analysis. The result revealed that people had high level of behavior in preventing DHF (85.4 percent). And 3 factors were statistically significant related to people behavior in Preventing DHF, i.e. resource availability(x1), resource utilization skills(x2), and reinforcing information(x3). The predicting equation of people behavior was Y = 6.962 + 0.278(x1) + 0.430(x2) + 0.435(x3). And the equation could predict people behavior in preventing DHF with accuracy of 69.9 percent (R2=0.699) So DHF prevention and control programs may focus on enhancing the reinforcing information, resource utilization skills and support to the resources availability to control and prevent haemorrhagic fever
