Abstract:
A variety of products in plastic injection industries is normally. Therefore, many times of exchanging die are found in these companies. In 2554, there are 487 events of exchange die as a result of a wasting time to setup die as 37,510 minutes. The company is putting an effort to reduce the time of exchanging die with Single Minute Exchange Die (SMED) technique. Defining a procedure and establishing a standard time are started firstly. The standard time of replacing a new die is 82.74 minutes. Then, a separation of internal and external setup time is performed. The time of exchanging die defined as internal setup time is 63.58 minutes (reducing as 23.17%). After that, why-why analysis is applied to reduce the internal setup time and found that the setup time is reducing as 50.39 minutes or 39.10%. It means that, the company can produce the more parts as 13,417 pieces per year. In additional, technicians can replace and adjust the die easily and rapidly
