Abstract:
The objective of this master project is to improve Barrel and Screw production processes in an Injection Part Manufacturing factory to be more efficiency. Time motion study is an approach used to find a standard operation time of barrel manufacturing. The inside honing process is one of the bottlenecks that attention must be paid to identify the root cause and find solution to reduce waste-time to improve manufacturing cycle time. The result of this exercise, with ฿0.03 million investing cost, can reduce the manufacturing cycle time to be 327 minutes per piece from 573 minutes per piece before and improves efficiency by 43%. This will increase the income of the factory approximately by ฿50.86 millions per year with only $0.03 million of improving cost. With the same approach on Screw manufacturing process, there are 2 areas which cause bottlenecks: milling root and polishing to finish surface. After improving those 2 processes, the manufacturing cycle time is improved from 624 minutes per piece to 439 minutes per piece and the efficiency increased by 30% which increasing total revenue by about ฿34.32 millions per year with only $0.35 million of improving cost.
