Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to examine factors affecting the engagement of the health volunteers to their jobs, to study the level of job engagement, as well as to investigate the relationship between the affecting factors and the job engagement of these volunteers. The sample group consisted of 214 health volunteers at Koh Klang Sub-District, Lanta District, Krabi Province. Questionnaires were used to collect data for this study. The data was then analyzed by using a computer and results shown in means, S.D., and Pearson Correlation Coefficient. The results of the analysis were as follows: Most of the sample were female, married, and aged 31-40 years. Most of them finished primary education and worked as farmers. They had been working as volunteers for more than 5 years. They had a salary of 1,500 13,500 baht. All factors were found to relate significantly to the engagement of the health volunteers to their job at the level of 0.05. These factors included respect from the public, relationship between the volunteers and health officers, benefits, and work environment. However, the most affective factor was found to be benefits. The level of the job engagement of these volunteers was found to be high. Suggestions from the health volunteers were that the volunteers needed support and cooperation from to the community and local people. The health officers should provide them with trainings, advice, and counseling closely and continuously. The government should also supply them with necessary items, and look after their benefits.
