Abstract:
The learning and teaching system on Facebook was developed in order to take advantage of the gaining popularity of this social network and use it in a self-study environment. The main objectives were to evaluate the system efficiency, students learning achievement, and students satisfaction towards using this system. Video media were used as study material and the custom Facebooks application, Social F Quiz, was developed for use as pretest, exercise, and posttest. The experiment was conducted on 30 students in the vocational certificate level who enrolled in the subject of Formulas and Functions on the Microsoft Excel. The results showed that the efficiency of the learning and teaching system on Facebook was of 84.83/81.78. The students learning achievement after using the system was higher than before using at the statistically significant level of .05 The students were satisfied with the replacement of this system in the learning process at the highest level. It is therefore recommended that the system should be used more extensively in the self-study environment in order to raise the students learning achievement.
