Feasibility study in chiller renovation for air cooling system at 52 Building, Faculty of Technical, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology North Bangkok
Abstract:
This thesis aims at feasibility study and guideline of applying the central Airconditioning
system for an in-Building 52 air conditioning, faculty of technical
education, KMITNB. Replacing the unitary Air-conditioning system which is a split
type . The scope of this thesis bases on energy analysis estimate energy consumption
of in-Building 52 Air-conditioning system. As well as an analysis of air conditioners
efficiency and expense of Air-conditioning system maintenance in comparison
between Spit-type air-conditioning system, High Efficiency Spit- type airconditioning
and modern central Air-conditioning system.
The results found that Air-condition of the 52 nd Building are 84 % very low
efficiency with 1.89 Kw/Ton efficiency index and 333.11 Ton capabilities Electrical
energy in the Air-conditioning system is 950,554.07 KWh/year. Replacement to High
Efficiency Spit- type Air-conditioning system aught to reduces energy consumption to
41.45 % and annual expense for Air-conditioning system to approximately
1,348,200.20 Baht/year. Moreover, it provides a simple payback time of 4.40 year,
and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 21.46 % . In Replacement of the central Airconditioning
system , it is found that annual energy expense and maintenance is
higher than the Spit-type air-conditioning system Consequently , the project of
central Air-conditioning system replacement is not realy worth investing.
