Abstract: purposes of this study were to use role play activities to develop English speaking skills of Prathom Suksa 6 students and to investigate the result of using role play activities. The samples of this study were 30 students of Chumchonhuaipai school , enrolled in the second semester of 2011 academic year. They were selected by using simple random sampling technique. The study was carried out for four weeks, or eight periods. The instrument were lesson plans and pre-and post–test. The data collected were analyzed by using statistics that is arithmetic mean, standard deviation, and t-test. The research findings were as follows : Using role play activities to develop English speaking skills in classroom increased students’ speaking ability as shown in the post-test with significant value at .05 level. การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อพัฒนากิจกรรมการเรียนการสอนทักษะภาษาอังกฤษโดยใช้บทบาทสมมุติ ระดับชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 และเพื่อศึกษาผลการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนการสอนทักษะการพูดภาษาอังกฤษโดยใช้บทบาทสมมติ กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการศึกษาครั้งนี้ คือนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 จำนวน 30 คน ภาคเรียนที่ 2 ปีการศึกษา 2554 ซึ่งได้มาจากการสุ่มตัวอย่างแบบง่าย (simple random sampling) การศึกษาครั้งนี้ใช้ระยะเวลาในการทดลอง 8 ชั่วโมง แบบแผนที่ใช้ในการทดลองเป็นแบบทดสอบก่อนและหลังการทดลอง (one-group- pretest-posttest design) เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยคือ แผนการสอนและแบบทดสอบวัดผลสัมฤทธิ์ทางการเรียนภาษาอังกฤษ สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลได้แก่ ค่าเฉลี่ย ( ) ค่าเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน (SD) และการทดสอบค่า t-test ผลการศึกษาพบว่า การใช้กิจกรรมบทบาทสมมุติในการสอนการพูดภาษาอังกฤษช่วยให้นักเรียนมีความ สามารถในการพูดหลังการทดสอบเพิ่มขึ้นอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ 0.5
