Abstract:
The objective of the research was to study of factors affecting to cutting tool steel with wire
electrical discharge machining. Variable are five factors, including the power setting (4,7,10 amp),
off time off discharge (8,10,12 us), wire feeding (8,12,16 m/min) , wire tension (9,10,11 N) and
wire offset (150, 160,170 um), The taguchi's method was used to experimental design and
analyzed the results to determining the conditions affecting the workpiece with the minimum width
of cut, surface TOughness and the maximum materials removal rate. The analysis of mean (ANOM)
and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used to analysis the influence of the factors. The
experimental results analysis was founded that as following. The factor most affected to surface
TOughness was power setting. Consequently, off time off, wire feeding, and wire tension were
affected factors too. But wire offset was not affected to surface roughness. The effect of power
setting and wire offset on width of cut was founded which most importance parameter. Moreover,
wire feeding, and wire tension were consequential factors, respectively. However, off time off was
not affected to width of cut. Finally, factor affected to material removed rate for WEDM was power
setting. By the way, the others factors were not affected to material removed rate.
