Abstract:
The objectives of this research on were to study the microencapsulation technology of essential oil for coating on a cotton fabric, users’ satisfaction with the smell of the cloth, and the smell property against washing.
Heat drying and natural drying microencapsulation technology were experimented. Data were collected by questionnaire and analyzed in term of percentage. Sample were 50 people from simple random sampling and other 50 office people from systematic random sampling
It was found that the natural drying showed the best result for essential oil microencapsulation technology. Five different kind of essential oils - Lavender, Rose, Jasmine, Eucalyptus, and Peppermint were experimented to find out the users’ satisfaction with the smell of essential oil and its property against washing by washing machine. The result showed that after coating the red rose essential oil microcapsules could be stuck onto the fabric much more than the others. The average size of the microcapsules was 1 - 2.4 micron. Lavender smell showed the highest mean of, 27%, And the best property against washing.
