Development of User Friendly Interface for Yeast Genome-scale Model
Abstract:
Many genome-scale models of various organisms such as Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and Plasmodium falciparum have been developed in our research group using the integration of genome annotations and computational flux balance-based analysis. However, result of model always comes out in complicated which are hard to analysis. Therefore, we focus on development of the graphical user interface to help us analyze the genome-scale modeling.
Construction of model requires basic knowledge of flux balance analysis. However, the format of constructed model is also complicated form for users or biologists. Therefore, this research aims to develop a graphical user interface (GUI) applied for genome-scale model. This GUI, based on Visual Basic environment and visual basic algorithm, facilitates a user to readily edit the model and change input information. The interfaces also have a visualization platform that helps a user to analyze and interpret the model output such as pathway maps and optimal flux distribution under various conditions by applying this interface with the genome-scale of S. cerevisiae. Applying this interface with the genome-scale of S. cerevisiae, we hope to easily perform in silico experiments to study the genotype-phenotype relationship of yeast under changing genetic and
environmental conditions. Advantage of this platform is to reduce the complicated task and time consuming for modeling that are easily analyze for biologists.
