Abstract:
The purposes of this Experimental research were to compare length of stay and patient satisfaction in health services after using case management in urology surgery unit Rajavithi Hospital. The research subjects composed of 15 patients who had diagnosed of urologic conditions, Urolithiasis, Benign prostatic hyperplasia, Cancer of bladder and Cancer of the prostate, case selected using matched with variable for diseases, operation type, age, gender and severity of condition. The research instruments were training project of case management, training program, clinical pathway of urology patient, manual for urology patient, observation form of nursing practice, length of stay record and patient satisfaction in health services questionnaire, tested for content validity by 5 experts, the validity were .80, the Cronbachs alpha coefficients were .92. Statistical techniques utilized in data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation, and t-test. Major findings of this study were as follows: 1. Length of stay after using case management (x-bar = 6.20, SD = 3.75) was less than criteria length of stay as usual before (x-bar = 10.73, SD = 4.85), and was significant at the .05 level. 2. Patient satisfaction in health services after using case management (x-bar = 4.64, SD = .32) was higher than criteria patient satisfaction in health services as usual before ( = 2.98, SD = .54), and was significant at the .05 level.
