Abstract:
The purposes of the research study were: (1) to create pronunciation training aided video, (2) to compare pronunciation ability scores of each patient before and after training, and (3) to study responses to the needs and to the satisfaction of patients and their guardians to pronunciation training aid video. The contents of the video focused on restoring the ability to pronounce /th/. The total of 8 patients and 8 guardians at the Speech-Language Pathology Division, the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital were the sample groups. Data were analyzed with both numerical and descriptive methods. Data obtained from the experiment, observation, interviews, and questionnaires. Standard deviation and mean were used as the statistical methods of analysis.
The results showed that the assessment quality of pronunciation training aid video by the specialists were higher than the average, and all patients got higher scores of ability to pronounce /th/ after training by the video. Furthermore, the use of mouth and face muscles were improved. The study also found that age and severe problem affected to the patients pronunciation ability. The training aid video satisfied the patients and their guardians regarding to the physically, mentally, socially, economically, and time consuming needs. Patients and their guardians were satisfied with the training aid video in the high level (on five rating scale basis).
